Four-colour screenprints on paper

Guernsey artist Frances Lemmon recently invited us to participate in a group show at St Peter’s Church. It’s always a challenge to come up with new work and a deadline is always helpful. Plus, it was the perfect excuse to try out some fabulous, thick, Fabriano pressed-cotton paper. LOVELY! Oh that it were a little less expensive…

Here is the set of large (50cm x 70cm) four-colour prints made for the show. These start out as pen and ink drawings on four layers of acetate, each of which is exposed using photo-emulsion onto a screen. They represent Guernsey hedgerows in the four seasons.

This was a group show around the theme “Organic”. There was some very strong work, including this by Maryjane Orley, who bottled different sources of water over the course of a year.
